Our earth is very dry from the sun!

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand the impact of heat energy on our environment.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write 14 signs that our bodies and earth have been effected by the heat energy from the sun.

Wow!! People spend $150 on Valentine's Day!!

Learning Intention: We are learning to develop understanding of the text that we read.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I answer the comprehension questions about the Valentine's Day correctly using information from the article.

Heat energy always travels to cold substances!

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand the physical properties of heat energy.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I brainstorm and research the key words to explain heat energy.

Wow! The lanterns were beautiful!

Lantern Festival

On Saturday the 11th of February, my aunty, cousins, brother and I went to the Lantern Festival to celebrate Chinese new year.

First my aunty came to my house to pick up my brother and I to go to the Lantern Festival with them. My mum gave us $40 each. Then we all said goodbye and hopped into the car with excitement.

On our way there, my cousin called and asked if we could pick him up from the McDonalds in New Lynn. After we picked him up, we went to my aunty's house to get our phones charged up and something to eat.

Once everyone was ready, we left the house to meet up with my aunty's friend. It was a 10 minute drive from there. The Festival was located at the Auckland Domain.  

When we got there, we walked around looking at all the bright, beautiful lanterns. First we went to the cookie truck to meet up with my aunty's friend's daughter because she was there with her friend. Eventually we all split up, The children under 12 went with my aunty and the children over 12 went off on their own. My aunty and our group went straight to the food section because we were all very hungry. We ate dumplings, prawns, Chinese sausages, cotton candy, ice cream and churros.

Then we met everyone back at the cookie truck. My brother ran and jumped on me because he was full of energy. My cousin Jayden told us that Lasike and him were dancing around in a dance circle. Jayden showed me the video and it was so funny. When Lasike was dancing everyone screamed out to him and they were all touching him. Then my cousin Lona came back and we got to meet his girlfriend, she was really pretty. A couple of hours later, my aunty felt tired so we left the festival and walked to our car.

From our car, we watched the fireworks blast out into the air. We each bought two lanterns but we only took one home because we threw one in the air hoping it would float into the sky. My brother and Jayden were very hungry because of all the dancing that they did so we drove to McDonald's to get something to eat for dinner.

After waiting in a long queue, we finally ordered our food and drove back to my aunty's house so that we could eat on the dining table. When we finally finished our food, my aunty told us the rooms that we would be sleeping in. I slept in my cousin Levi's room with my other cousin Tiana. The boys slept downstairs in the mini cinema because they wanted to watch a karate movie.

My cousin and I watched videos on her Ipad. Eventually, we all dozed off to sleep. I had a really fun and comfortable night. I can't wait for the next Lantern Festival.

My favourite part of the day was when we saw all the lanterns because they were so bright and beautiful.

Wow! The treaty was signed a long time ago!

Learning Intention: We are learning the importance of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I list down seven facts about the Treaty of Waitangi.

Wow! The water parade was beautiful!

Learning Intention: We are learning to develop understanding of the text that we read.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I answer the comprehension questions about the Venice Carnival Water Parade correctly using information from the article.

Aww! The poor whales!

Learning Intention: We are learning to develop understanding of the text that we read.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I answer the comprehension questions about New Zealand experiencing the biggest whale stranding correctly using information from the article.

Mission statement

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand what Charism means and how we show it at St. Patrick's School.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write a mission statement.

Sylvia Park was fun!

On Monday the 6th of February, I went to Sylvia park with my friends Alisha, Bailey, Walo, Jack, Sapphire, Ella and my brother Lasike.

I took the train to Sylvia Park with my best friend Alisha and my brother CK. We met up with my friends outside Pak n Save. Once everyone has arrived, we took a picture together.

First we walked to the food court to get soething to eat. We each bought a Big mac from MacDonalds. Once we finished eating, we all bought a drink because we were thirsty.

Next, we walked to the arcade at the movies to play some games. My best friend Alisha and I took 4 photos in the photo booth. My favourite photo was the photo that we did the dab pose.

After, we played the games, we walked to the Nike store because my friend sapphire wanted to get a Nike hat. Then we walked to Foot Lookers because I wanted to buy my brother, my bestfriend and myself Adidas superstar shoes.

After a while, we walked to McDonalds because we all wanted to get some frozen Fanta. After we bought our drinks, we walked to Noel Leeming to buy my friend a new phone case because she needed a new one. She also bought a clear, transparent phone cause, to go with it.

Eventually, my dad picked my brother and I up. We all said our goodbyes and drove back home. I couldnt wait to see all my friends on Tuesday.

My favourite part of the day was when I bought my Adidas superstar shoes because I have been wanting the pair of shoes for a month now.

Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I use sequencing words in my recount to describe my my weekend at Sylvia Park with my friends.

Without the treaty, New Zealand would not be very peaceful!

Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I explain who, what, where, when, why and how the Treaty was signed.
