What do you think about having rubbish bins at school?

I believe that we shouldn't have rubbish bins at our school because we may cause more pollution to our environment and harm the living creatures that are around us.
Image result for rubbish bin cartoon
We shouldn't have rubbish bins because the rubbish that we throw away might get blown out by the wind or birds might take it out and pollute our environment. If this happens, our school environment will become polluted and our health could suffer from the germs and the bacteria.

I also believe that we shouldn't have bins because there are many items that we can either recycle or reuse. For example- If I come to school with sushi for lunch, I can take the sushi container home and reuse the container again for something else.

I strongly believe that we shouldn't have rubbish bins because there are many uses for most of our waste that we are just throwing away. For example, the fruit peels that we throw away can be piled up and made into compost to fertilise our gardens.

People and factories are part of climate change by making plastic and rubbish bins this is why we shouldn't have bins. We should encourage them to be climate change friendly.

In conclusion, not having rubbish bins at our school will encourage everyone to look after our school environment and look at how we can be more sustainable with our resources.

Learning Intention: We are learning to follow the structure of a persuasive writing.

Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I explain three reason why we should have rubbish bins at school.

Do you want to hear about our exciting trip to Bunnings?

On Wednesday the 9th of August, Room 7 from Saint Patrick's School travelled in 5 cars to Bunnings Warehouse at Mount Wellington.

Image result for bunnings warehouse
At 10:20 am, we strolled to the school reception. After a while Miss Chao divided us into small groups of 4 so we can travel to Bunnings. Miss Chao's dad took my friends and I to Bunnings. Soon we were introduced to our workshop teacher Anthony. We line up in two lines from the order of shortest to the tallest. After a little while, we walked in a line to collect our aprons. Then Anthony handed us the garden markers and then he divided us into 3 groups and told us to go to a table. I was put at the far table with my cousins. We took turns to get 5 plates of different coloured paint for us all to use; red, yellow, blue, green and white, After we were all organised, Anthony showed us how to paing tinly on our pieces of wood. This was important because if the layer of paint was too thick, it might bubble up. After a while, I painted some green grass with a red background. The vegetable that I was asked to paint was Thyme. After about 30 minutes, I finally finished my first coat so I went to wait in line for my turn to use the heat gun. Soon after that, Anthony called for our attention and so i left my garden marker on the table while we went for a small tour around the building.

While wandering around the building, Anthony showed us 3 different ways that Bunnings Warehouse is being sustainable. The first way that Bunnings was being sustainable is using LED lights for their lighting. Another way of being sustainable is that they use rainwater to water their plants.  There is a big green tank that is sitting outside the building. Since it was raining the tank was open so it could accumulate the rainwater to water the plants. Anthony led us to the most serious part of the building. He commanded us to stick together and pay attention. After that, we were led to the back of the building where he showed us a couple machines. There was a woman throwing cardboard materials into a rectangular yellow machine. Anthony said that the machine squashes all the cardboards to minimise the space that it takes up..

After our tour around the building, we strolled back to our little workshop. Finally, I painted the word 'Thyme' on my marker using blue paint. I also decided to add some yellow paint splatters to make it different. It took me a very long time to get the painting on my marker perfect because I was using a thick brush.Soon it was time to leave it to dry so I went to line up again for the heat gun.. While i was waiting for the pain on my marker to dry, I walked around each table with my cousin collecting all the paint brushes, dipping them in water and and drying them using a dry rag. Then we wiped the tables and collected all the plates of paint and gathered them all on the table.

After a little while, Ms Bullôt called for our attention so we can have a small reflection with Anthony. Straight after that, we walked quickly outside and I hopped into Mrs Folden's car to go back to school.

I had a very enjoyable time at the Bunnings Warehouse in Mount Wellington. My favourite part was when we had a little tour around the building because I got to view the behind the scenes of the store and how the store works.

Thanks to the ladybugs, we still have crops in our gardens!

Ladybugs look like tiny round balls that are red with black dots. When predators attack, they pretend to die because the predators will think that they're already dead and leave. Sometimes they bleed from their knees when they're scared. They like leaves and hedges because it's easier to find food there.

Ladybugs feel smooth and they are shiny. Ladybugs are always found in hedges and in places where there are leaves so they can find aphids to eat. Ladybugs protect the crops in the garden by eating the aphids as they are a main source of food for the ladybugs.

Have you seen the movie 'Our Lady of Fatima?'

Image result for our lady of fatimaWow! I never knew that the movie 'Our lady of Fatima' could be so interesting! On Sunday the 7th of May, my cousins Eti, Anastacia, Joyla, my uncle and I went to the St. Patrick's parish to watch a movie with the parish community.

Before we left, my aunt asked me to hang out the washing. I grabbed the basket with the wet clothes and a bag with the clothes pegs in. Then I went out and walked out to the backyard. When I was hanging out the washing, something came and rubbed its head against my leg, so I bent down and pushed it away.

After hanging out the clothes, we all grabbed our jackets and ran out the door with socks and shoes in our hands. We listened to the music on our way to the parish. When we arrived at the parish, we walked to Room 9 because that was where the movie was taking place. We waited for our friends Peter, Kylie, Asia, Emanuel, Frances, Peter, Shanice and Star to come so we could all go in together.

When we walked in, Father Andrew gave each of us a plastic plate so that we can walk to the food table to choose some food to eat. I got a hot dog on a stick, Macaroni and cheese and chips. After a while, Eti, my cousin Petra, my friend Hope and I walked to the front and we went to the left side and sat on the floor. We watched Our Lady of Fatima. The movie was very interesting because it was very different from the movies that I have seen before before.

Afterwards, I walked outside with Emma and her son Michael. After a little while, Father called us inside so we could all gather together to pray together. After the prayer, Father gave each family a plate of food to take home. We got a big plate of hot dogs, cocktail sausages, Biscuits and a cup of juice for each of us. We said our goodbyes to our lovely friends and drove back home. Eti and I ate a little bit of food and then we went straight to sleep because we were feeling really tired.

Image result for lynn mall
In the morning, my dad woke us up so we could get ready to go out. My dad drove us to my cousins building in our large black and grey Jeep. When we arrived at their house, my two nephews ran out squealing, "Grandad! Grandad! Grandad!" Their mum looked very delighted when we left the house and we drove off blasting as we blasted music through our speakers.

On our way to Lynnmall , we saw some of our Chinese relatives. When we arrived at Lynnmall, my two nephews Nicholas and DeAngelo dashed out and waited for my dad to hold their hands while they crossed the road. Ck and Nicholas raced indoors and jumped into a toy Ice Cream truck.

After a little while we walked to the food court. My nephews wanted McDonalds so we all got Mcdonalds for lunch. I got a quarter pounder with a frozen fanta.
