Hot Air Balloons! Yay!

Today at technicraft, we were told that we were going to see how a hot air balloon works. We need...
  • Gauze Mat
  • Tripod
  • Matches
  • Balloon
  • Meths Burner
  • A Flask
  • Wet Cloth
  • Place Value Block
  • Ice Cube

  1. Stretch a balloon.
  2. Wipe burner with a wet cloth.
  3. Light meths burner and place it on a place value block.
  4. Place tripod over the burner and the gauze mat on top of the tripod.
  5. Grab a ice cube and place it in between your hands and rub your hands against the ice cube.
  6. Push the ice cube into the flask.
  7. Get the stretched balloon and place the mouth of the balloon over the mouth of the flask.
  8. Gently place the flask over the gauze mat and OBSERVE what happens.

Results…

The air from the heat energy filled the balloon with air.
The cold and hot air mixed together made the balloon rise up.
Condensation fills the flask and collects the water. The water bubbled up and the balloon popped.
